Many states in the United States of America have legalized the use of medical marijuana. Twenty-nine states, plus Washington DC have been very open to its medical usage. In the recent polls conducted, eight out of ten American citizens have voted for the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes, and more than half of total America agrees with its recreational use. And since the legalization of this in various states on the country, many have bought their complete weed grow kit so that they can grow their own at the convenience of their home.
Many benefits have been known for the use of marijuana, may it be medicinal or recreational and many more is yet to be uncovered. With at least 2 active chemicals that can be found in it, namely THC or tetrahydrocannabinol and CBD or cannabidiol, it can give more than just the high.
There are more than 400 other chemicals that can be found in cannabis, around 60 of which are cannabinoids, but not all of them have been studied yet. Many of these may have significant effects on our bodies or may even treat untreatable illnesses, but this may also have harmful effects or so. Without further studies, it will stay the way it is now, and we can never know for sure what it can do to our bodies.
Chronic pain
One of the most common uses of medical marijuana is for the treatment of chronic pain and pain caused by chronic illnesses. Studies have shown that the cannabinoids, which are very abundant in the cannabis plant, is one of the most effective treatments for chronic pain. As the benefit-to-risk ratio continues to be uncovered, it is gaining its reputation over other analgesics.
Treatment for epilepsy and seizures
Many epileptic patients and other cases that cause seizures have chosen the use of marijuana to prevent or even eliminate its occurrence. Patients from states where cannabis hasn’t been legalized yet have transferred to another state that already utilizes medical marijuana. There are reports that states that in some cases, only medical marijuana can stop them from having seizure attacks and at some point, stop their seizure while it is on-going.
Obesity and response to sugar
A published study once has proved that those who smoke marijuana tend to become skinnier than the average person and has better metabolism of sugar and other nutrients in spite of them taking in more calories.
